We are an emerging youth-based conservation NGO with a focus youth and women engagement through digital/social media and dedicated to the Protection and Conservation of Wildlife and the Environment in Kenya. 

Programme Officer Digital/Social Media marketing

Job Title: Programme Officer Digital/Social Media marketing

Reporting to: Executive Director/CEO

Employment type: Consultancy leading to full employment

Duration: An initial 3 months (with likelihood of full employment based on performance)

Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field- Experience of at least 2 years in a similar position with a proven track record. Any related qualifications and experience and proven capacity shall be considered if the candidate does not hold a degree.

Remuneration: Kshs. 40,000/- to Kshs. 45,000/- net (depending on experience and qualifications)

Working hours: Full-time Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm

Location: Nairobi

Job Description:

We are looking for a Programme Officer Digital/Social Media marketing. The ideal candidate should be a team player and able to work independently who will play a critical role in implementing projects in relation to conservation advocacy targeted at women and youth in Africa through a digital and various social media platforms among other responsibilities as listed below:-

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Developing, implementing and managing the Organization’s Digital and Social Media strategy in order to increase our online presence, improve our corporate image and engage proactively with our online audiences including the organization’s website.
  • Creating and managing the organizations social media campaigns and initiatives
  • Advising on creating original digital content for the organization and identifying public content and individuals for featuring on our digital platforms
  • Generate reports that would feed into the development of digital/social media content
  • Provide data analysis and metric reporting for the organization aimed at capitalizing on increased subscription, viewership, and audiences
  • Developing a budget and operating plan for communications.
  • Developing an evaluation method to assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement.
  • Define most important social media KPIs, Monitor SEO and user engagement and suggest content optimization.
  • Measure the success of every social media campaign and provide regular analytics reports.

Expertise Advisory

  • Stay up to date with the latest social media best practices and technologies and advise the organization accordingly.
  • Perform day-to-day management of our social media marketing tools to enhance and grow the brand.
  • Provide constructive feedback on new and upcoming trends to ensure that the organization is ahead of the curve.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or any other related field from a recognized university. Any related qualifications and experience and proven capacity shall be considered if the candidate does not hold a degree
  • Diploma or Certificate programmes in digital marketing shall be considered.
  • Minimum 2 years’ social media experience including planning and managing content in a corporate or agency setting.
  • Basic graphic design, photography will be an added advantage.
  • Deep knowledge of the different digital media platforms and their unique features.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and must have a thorough understanding of social media management and strategy.
  • Experience selecting, creating and guiding visual content for the web such as photos, banners and video.
  • Experience in using various analytics tools.
  • Experience creating and managing a website style guide.
  • Strong knowledge of web analytics and how to use data for performance improvement.
  • Knowledge of HTML and experience with popular content management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of web analytics and how to use data for performance improvement.
  • Adobe Creative Suite proficiency will be an added advantage.
  • A basic understanding of gender and youth issues.
  • An understanding and passion for conservation.
