We are recruiting on behalf our client a programmer to be based in Nairobi.

The key role

To develop codes for both client and proprietary applications, participation in creating the right infrastructure for projects, and taking an active role in defining how an application looks and works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy, planning and execution
  • Design, build and maintain efficient APIs
  • Build reusable code and library for future use
  • Design and implementation of data storage solutions
  • Work with frontend and mobile app developers to define API specs
  • Work well with technical and non-technical people to deliver high value results
  • Participating in Sprint Planning and tracking work items

Required qualification & Experience

  • Bachelors of Science in Computer Science
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Relevant development experience within Java, Python or other object-oriented programming languages
  • Experience with application servers such as Tomcat, Apache
  • Experience with SOAP and REST Web Services (Microservices optional but valued)
  • Experience with database applications such as Oracle, MySql, DB2 and with JDBC and ORM tools
  • Experience with source control tools like Git, GitHub or Bitbucket
  • Experience deploying to application servers in enterprise environments
  • Experience using Agile development methodologies
